The Unsinkable Stone is the autobiography of Kathy Stone, who has athetoid-spastic cerebral palsy. Some people with similar afflictions entertain a "doom-gloom" attitude. Kathy is very intelligent. She won't let her disability destroy her love for life and people. She daringly jumps off a high dive, goes on exotic rips, falls into a motel swimming pool (wheelchair and all) and comes up laughing.  She will always be confined to a wheelchair; but her will to live a normal, fulfilling life is definitely apparent. Her message is that life is beautiful, people are  beautiful when one has a positive attitude. She has met exciting, interesting people.  In this book she tells about family and friends.  Kathy indicated "I didn't get where I am by myself, by no means!  Besides self -esteem my mom and dad instilled in me, I also had outside help.  The Easter Seals Society was absolutely influential.  I learned to swim , to bowl, to do ceramics, and to oil paint an the Easter Seal programs."  Randy Feldt (Recreational Therapist River Hills Nursing Home-East) and his wife Diane Lemmers (Physical Therapist at Milwaukee Children's Hospital) commented "From where we stand, we think that disabled people have a much better perspective about life then able-bodied people. They're not so confused about what they want out of life."   Kathy is definitely not confused about her goals in life and is eager to tell others what is available in the way of resources for disabled people.
